so helpless in the darkness
no way out
no way to make it stop

life so wasted in the darkness
no smiles left to give
no laughter to hear

a pit with no ladder out
a simple answer
but no way to the solution

the pressure never lets up
crushing hard on your chest
tears welling inside

oh to find hope again
to have it so close
and yet not be able to obtain it
